Telstra must be throttling streaming as when I switch to 3G or 4g the exact same video will cache further ahead and play smoothly even though my 3G/4g download speed test results are much slower than my BigPond cable. That proves that it's nothing to do with the particular website or my equipment etc. It's just a poor service from Telstra.

Re: internet speed test variables In response to JK4 Theoretically the maximum download speed is 24Mbps (or according to Telstra 20Mbps) but variables that will slow down the speed are distance from exchange and quality of copper line and quality of your wifi connection. 12Mbps isn't too bad.
